I have come to an answer in regards to my homework in Joules, but the correct answer is stated in m/ do i convert J to m/s?

Short answer is you can't! m/s are the units of speed or velocity, whereas Joules are the unit of energy. If it helps the equation for kinetic energy (energy due to movement) is ½mv², where m = mass in kg & v = velocity in m/s.
