e is used as a shorthand for scientific notation, where a number is multiplied by ten raised to some positive or negative power. Consider it to be x10^ so 8e-7 is 8 x 10^(-7) or 0.0000008 L, perhaps more usefully expressed as 0.8 µL or 800 nL.
