Use the sheet steel column at this page:
http://www.engineersedge.com/gauge.htm

I googled several sources and they seem to agree on 0.239"
for US gauge. If British, probably the Birmingham or Stubbs gauge for steel, but I'm not sure of that. Browne & Sharp is used for nonferrous metal and is also the basis for American Wire gauge AWG
