How to convert $/PJ to $/litre

Postby ronnie » Mon Jan 21, 2008 8:24 am

Is there any method to convert $/PJ to $/Litre of propane or butane?

Sure, just multiply by the energy content in PJ/L. Per US DoE,
Propane is 50.235 MJ/kg, 25.48 MJ/L.
Butane is 49.210 MJ/kg, 28.769 MJ/L.
(both values HHV)

Most liquid hydrocarbons are "about the same" on a weight basis (slightly higher if they have higher hydrogen content), but vary on a volumetric basis according to density.
