That depends on the substance being converted. For water 1 gram equals exactly 1 cubic centimeter, i.e. 1 milligram is 0.001 cc. (see metric prefixes).

This is not the case for other substances, for example oil is lighter and mercury is heavier than water.

"cc" stands for cubic centimeter and is a unit measurement of volume, whereas "mg" stands for milligram and is a unit measurement of length.

Therefore, you cannot convert from one to another.

Hence, there is a question 500mg of what.

Using a syringe, I take methotrexate for Crohn's disease; my dose has increased from 15 mg to 25 mg, but the syringe is in MLs or CC's - how many cc's would I use to get 25mg of a liquid medicine?
