If your tank is 121.9 cm X 45.72 cm X 45.72 cm (imperial measurement is evil), that means it is 254809.81296 cc, which is 67.31 gal.

Great Question - I need to go further - Weight

Postby Dave » Sat Mar 13, 2004 10:54 pm

Hi,

Excellent question since I am in the process of starting a fish tank too. I went online - searched for starting a fish tank. Got all kinds of helpful info. One of the best was a simple fish tank volume calc
http://www.aquadyntech.com/tanksvolume.html <-- hope okay to post

Anyway, I calculated a max of 40 gallons of water. Great, now owning a 24 ft above ground pool, I know there is some weight associated with water. How heavy will this 40 gallons of water be on the "wood and glass" table I planned to rest it on?

If I understood your question correctly:
40 gal = 151.416472 l
151.416472 l = 151.416472 kg
151.416472 kg = 333.816179 lb
therefore
40 gal = approx. 333.8 lb
Note: this assumes US gallons.

Length x Width x Depth ÷ 231 = Gallons x 8.325625000001 Lbs per US Gallon = Weight of water

48 x 18 x 18 ÷ 231 = 67.324675324675 Gallons x 8.325625000001 Lbs per US Gallon = 560.520000000036 Lbs.

40 US Gallons = 333.025000000021 Lbs.

shill: It appears you were using the factor for pure water @ 4°C? A fish tank would probably be closer to 20°C, thus the difference in numbers/answers.
