Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

86400 s per day.

Years become the tricky part, and you may need to consider four possible numbers.
*Every year has either 365 or 366 integer days exactly
*Four year periods have 1461 days (365.25 days per year average), unless you cross one of those Gregorian centuries
*400 year Gregorian periods have 146097 days (365.2425 d/year average)

First pass, I'd use 365.25 days/per year and get 31.688 years.
If you want to go beyond that, you'd have to look at the starting date and consider the details of when leap years occur.

If I suspected over 100 years, I'd use the Gregorian average, 365.2425 days.

Thanks for your response.

Could you tell me the mathematical formula to convert sec to years.

I think it is divide 86400 into 1 billion, then divide 365.25 into 11574 = 31.69.

Is this correct?

Yes.

An alternative is to multiply the two constants together, to get 31,557,600 s/year.

(That also works using 365 or 366 days for common and leap years, slightly different final digits)
