how do you figure acreage?

how do you figure acreage?

205 x 85 x 310 x 145 feet? How much acreage is that. .81?

Unlike a triangle, a quadrilateral is not fixed by knowing it's four sides, it can flex at the corners. You have to know at least one angle or one diagonal to "fix" into two rigid triangles. Some formulas here:

Once you have the area in square feet, the acres are easy.

As mentioned above, without at least one angle or one diagonal, there is not a unique solution. If these lengths are from a deed, there should also be compass bearings (angles) associated with each line. With those, the problem could be solved.
