converting ppm to mg

Postby mustangsaguaro » Tue Jun 20, 2006 5:41 am

Hello-

I need help w/ a conversion. I am trying to figure out the amount of Selenium in 1oz of a product I use for horses.

On the bucket of this product it is stated that the added selenium of this product is 40ppm. This 40ppm is in every pound of the product. I need to find out how many mg of selenium are in 1oz of this product.

The way I am doing the math is 40ppm/16oz = 1oz/x and the answer I get is 2.5. Would this be 2.5mg, 2.5mg/kg (2.5ppm). Or am I totally wrong on this conversion? If I am wrong what is the correct answer.

Once again I need to find out how many mg are in 1oz. of this product.

Thank you
Kim
