You have to convert a cubic, not square measure into gallons.

1 gallon = 231 cu in, so

40' x 30 ' x 144 sq in/sq ft x 2" = 345,600 cu in

x 1 gal/231 cu in = 1496.1 gallon.

Hope you're filling it with something cheap.

Are those all in feet?

If so, it'd be 25 cubic feet, or 187 US gallons.

Multiply all three figures together to get cubic feet.

As there are 7.4805 gallons in a cubic foot, multiply the cubic feet you get from calculating the above by 7.4805.

That's 4560 in³.
At 231 in³/gallon, 19.74 gallons.

Square feet into gallons math

Postby nerd » Sun Jul 20, 2008 12:37 am

OK below answer has an error
a cubis foot + 12 inches x 12 inches that is a square foot
multiply that x another to get a cubic foot
so a cubic foot is 12 x 12 x 12 = 1728 cubic inches

the below pond was 10 x 12 say 3 feet deep that is 360 square feet
360 x 1728 = 622,080 cubic inches
or multiply 360 square feet x 7.48 galons per square foot = 2,692 gallons
