Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

Conversion for Srew-Wrench/Spanner Sizes

First of all: Great Thanks for this really useful, easy to use and perfect site! I like it very much and use it often.

My sugggestion is: is it possible, to add or to implement a conversion between US and EU sizes for wrenches, spanners, srews and so on. In EU (I live in Germany) we use wrenches in Millimeter sizes, fom about 1,2 mm to about 40 mm are current sizes. In US there are used fractions of inches, for example 1/4; 3/8; 5/16; 7/32 and so on.

I found a table in the web: (unable to write it here, because of reject of the post "to many external links..." when submitting) but this is just a table and not a conversion. I don't know, if that is possible because it cannot be just calculated. Only a human being is able to decide: I have a wrench with "5/32", i can use it for a 4 mm nut. The calculated value is 3,97 mm but this would be within the normal tolerance.
A solution could be: convert all current available (wrench & screw)-sizes to the other measure in both directions.
If you agree, i would check all current available sizes in EU and pass it to you.
I think there would be a lot of people who could use it, all who have to do with any kind of mechanical stuff.
Thanks in advance,
Reidar
