I am interested in determining how to calculate the following ...

100mph - fastball = 146.7 ft per second
58ft - distance from point of release (pitchers hand) to contact with cathers mit - approximately.

60 frames per second - HD Video frame rate per second.

I want to know (approx.) how many frames of HD Video it will take to reach the catchers mit.

What is the proper expression to figure this out ?

Thanks, for any help.

100mph = 146.7 ft per second
divide it by 60 frames of HD video and you get
2.445 = feet per frame or per 1/60 of a second.

Next divide the 58 feet from release to mit by the 2.445 feet per second

23.721 frames of HD video to reach the mit.

Is this correct ?

Of course this is based on an average speed. A 4 seam fastball is estimated to slow down and average of 4 - 8 mph by the time it reachs the mit. So while the speed at release may 100mph by the time it reaches the plate it may be anywhere of 92-96 mph (approx.).
