Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

Chart for conversion

Is there a chart out there that will convert aggregate material? When you convert soil - tons to yard the formula is 1 tons = 1.4 yards. When you convert concrete (wet) the foruula is 1 to =1.46. What about sand, cemet, etc. as each of the weights of the products are different?

Actually, not all soils have a weight to volume ratio of 1.4. Among other things, it depends on the density of the various minerals that comprise the soil, the particle sizes, the moisture content and the compaction.

There are a few charts online that will give you an approximate weight to volume conversion and vice-versa.

CWS/IMAC - http://www.imac.ca/technofocus/weights.htm#MINERALS%20AND%20EARTHEN. Nice as it has loose and bank weights/volumes.

Cat also has a chart in their Caterpillar Handbooks, all editions.

Readme has a pcf and specific gravity chart here: http://www.reade.com/Particle_Briefings/spec_gra2.html
