Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

Food density measurement

Postby MealMender.com » Mon Sep 10, 2007 11:09 pm

I am inquiring about the density conversion chart which I found on your site . Here you list several food groups and their density in order to convert from mass/weight to volume and visa versa. I am inquiring if you might have a further extensive data-base on this or where I might be able to find one.

The purpose of my inquire is that I am associated with an online meal planning site which plans meals for families and also gives them a detailed grocery shopping list. Most of the conversion needed is from recipes (usually measured in volume) to grocery lists (usually measured by weight (grocery packaging). Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Richard,

The food densities we use in our online converter are taken from here: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/cooking/faq/ Unfortunately I cannot provide another source of similar information.
