Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

Conversions involving algebra

Postby Symphonie » Mon Sep 13, 2004 8:19 am

Hello. I'm not completely sure how to do all of this yet because I'm currently learning this all over again in Physics before we start going into more advanced things. There are a few questions that I had on one of my worksheets that I wasn't too sure about with my answers. I was wondering what the answers were and what methods you use to get these answers. The questions are:

1) 70.5 cm^3 to mL (This one I didn't have any idea how to do.)

2) 8.22 x 10^-5 micrometers to Ã… (Ã…= 1x 10^-10 m)

3)9.92 x 10 ^7 mm to m

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

1) 70.5 ml.

Remember that the SI system defines one liter is the volume of 1,000 cubic centimeters. Therefore 1 cubic centimeter will be one milliliter.

2) 0.822 Ã….

You need to remember to convert 8.22 x 10^-5 micrometers to meters, and then divide by 1x10^-10 m/Ã….

(8.22 x 10^-5 µm) · (1 x 10^-6 m/µm) = 8.22 x 10^-11 m

8.22 x 10^-11 m / 1 x 10^-10 m/Ã… = 0.822 Ã…

3) 9.92 x 10^-10 m

There are 1 x 10^-3 mm/m, so:

(9.92 x 10^-7) · (1 x 10^-3) = 9.92 x 10^-10
