Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

mEq to mg

I have the answer to Part A, but need help on Part B. I showed you how I arrived at the answer for Part A.

Part A: A urine specimen collected over 12 hours has a volume of 900 mL and a sodium value of 90 mEq/L. What is the sodium result in terms of volume of collection? Answer:

90 mEq = x mEq
_______ ______ cross multiply
1000 mL 900 mL

81000 = 1000 x
_____ ______ divide by 1000
1000 1000

x= 81 mEq/900 mL

Part B: What is the urine sodium value in terms of mg of sodium per 12 hours?

I need a conversion factor for mEq to mg, and do I leave the 90 mEq/L in L or also conver that to mL?

Thank you, Brenda

If I remember rightly, mEq/L is equivelent to mmol/l

If that is correct, then, you can convert thusly:

mmol/L x 23 mg Na+/mmol = mg/L
