Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

It's now 9:05 AM PST, so this answer is most likely not going to help you. My apologies, but I'm usually NOT awake at four thirty AM...

First and formost: It's not a conversion. It's a definition.

Remember the basics of the Metric System. A liter is a derived unit defined as the volume of water at 4°c that is contained in a cube 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm. That would be 10x10x10=1000, cmxcmxcm = cm³, or 1,000 cm³. That leads us to the next derived unit, the kilogram. One liter of water at 4°c weighs one kilogram.

One Kilogram is 1x10³ grams or 1,000 grams.

1,000 cm³ = 1,000 g, therefore:

1 cm³ = 1 gram

Now, 1 gram is 1,000 milligrams (1 gram x 1x10³ mg/g = 1,000 mg), so...

1 cm³ = 1,000 mg.
