Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. UK vs US oven temps

I need to covert the oven temps from a UK oven to a US oven temp for a reciept.... my friend says to put the oven on the highest setting.... which on his oven in the UK is 250 CENTIGRADE(spelling?) I need to know what that would be in a US oven which would be in FAHRENHEIT
Can anyone help me?

It would be 482 degrees F.

multiply the Celsius temperature by 1.8 and add 32

250 x 1.8 + 32 = 482
