Centistokes

Postby Marici » Sun Nov 28, 2004 1:23 am

Hi there. Can anyone give me a relative idea of how centistokes equates to say, motor or gear oil? For example, what centistokes of silicone oil would be near your basic 90 wt hydrocarbon gear oil in viscosity? Thanks in advance. Marici

The viscosity of 90 weight gear lube is similar to 50 weight motor oil. The gear lube spec is 13.5 to 24 centistokes at 100C. The motor oil spec is 16.3 to 21.9 cSt at 100C.
