M3 to Linear meters

Postby Saracen » Tue Oct 12, 2004 3:21 am

Would really appreciate a formula for the following:
eg I have 1 cubic meter of dried sawn timber measuring 100mm*25mm.
How would the formula convert this to linear meters?
Thanks in advance for any help on this :)

For any rectangular solid, V = l*w*h
You are given two dimensions and volume, so
l = V/(w*h) = 1 m^3/ (0.1 m x 0.025 m) = 400 m.

This is true whether it is a single 400 m piece, or several pieces totalling 400 m of length.
