I need to convert 384,000kg of Carbon Dioxide to Litres of Diesel. Im having to work out carbon emissions of machines working on a construction site.

You may want to refine the numbers and rerun the three steps. For a rough analysis,

1) by looking at atomic or molecular weights (use periodic table), CO2 is 12/44 carbon
384 000 kg CO2 = 104 727 kg C

2) Petroleum fuels run about 85% carbon, so
123 209 kg diesel fuel.

3) Diesel fuel has a density around 0.84 kg/L,
so about 146 677 L of fuel.

I have carried additional guard digits, the answer certainly does not have this precision. 147 000 L is probably a reasonable anser.

You can refine the process but using exact, not integer, atomic weights, and better carbon analysis and density for the fuel.
