1 teaspoon = 4.929 ml

The density of salt is 2.165 g/ml

So, 10.67 g NaCl in a teaspoon

I believe the density figure you used is for a solid block of salt. When ground, the bulk density usually drops as the powder doesn't "pack" perfectly. The USDA website and the nutritional info on my box of table salt seem to agree on about 6 g per teaspoon or 18 g per Tablespoon. The "bulk density" would be around 1.2 g/mL; however, this will vary with the grind.

How many grams are in a teaspoon of salt?

According to the back of my box of salt.

1 gram is about 1/4 teaspoon. (Its really closer to 1/5 teaspoon)

and 1/4 teaspoon of salt contains about 600 mg of sodium.

Hope that helps.
