You'll need to know the molecular value of the item you're trying to convert.

convert mmol/l to mg/dl

Postby nana » Thu Aug 24, 2006 9:09 pm

multiply by 18
for example:
If somebody's blood glucose is 5.0 mmol/L
then 5.0*18= 90 mg/dl

For GLUCOSE, 1 mmol/L = 18 mg/dL, but two conversions are being mixed together:

*Glucose has a molecular weight of 180 or molar mass of 180 g/mol. This has to be calculated for each compound.
*10 dL = 1 L

So 1mmol/L of glucose = 180 mg/L = 18 mg/dL

I have 104 mmo/L of Chloride and 2.8 mg/dL of Phosphorus.

I need to know the Chloride to Phosphorus ratio

mmol/l = mg/100ml x 10/ molecular mass
mmol/l = 200 x 10 / mm ( )

IT DEPENDS ON THE SUBSTANCES MOLECULAR WEIGHT... HOWEVER USE THESE CONVERSION FACTOR FOR GLUCOSE.. 18 .. MMMOL\L TO MG\DL

To convert mmol/l of glucose to mg/dl, multiply by 18.

To convert mg/dl of glucose to mmol/l, divide by 18 or multiply by 0.055

Thanks
