In calculating for the area of mils, we just raise its value to 2.

...so that (100 mils)^2 = 10,000 circular mils

Do you know that 1000 mils is equal to 1 inch?
If you want to get the area of 100 mils to inches, here's how;

... (1000/10 mils)^2 = (1/10 inch)^2
... (100 mils)^2 = (0.1 inch)^2
... 10,000 cmils = 0.01 sq. inch
