Temperature Conversion Scale vs Increment

Can someone please explain in plain language the concept of these two conversion types. I always thought there was a set conversion factor to convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

The main difficulty when converting between Celsius and Fahrenheit is the fact the zero points of these two scales are different.

A good explanation of these scales and the conversion formulas can be found here: http://vathena.arc.nasa.gov/curric/weat ... rcels.html
