How do you convert from micrograms/cubic centimetre to mol/litre? I've got 40 micrograms/cubic centimetre of iron solution and need to convert to its equivalent volume in mol/litre.

To figure this out, you need to know the atomic weight of Iron. A trip to your periodic chart will give you an answer of 55.85 grams per mole.

If you have a solution of iron at 40 µg/ml, then we can convert thusly:

40 µg / 55.85 g/mol =
0.00004 g / 55.85 g/mol = 7.16e-7 mol = .716 µmol

to convert ml to liters we'll use 1 ml = 0.001 l so:

.716 µmol / 0.001 l = 716 µmol/l
