The SI unit prefix "centi" means 1/100 (one hundredths) of the base unit.

1 cm = 1 centi-meter = 1 * 1/100 meter = 1/100 meter = 0.01 meter

The opposite is true as well:

100 cm = 100 centi-meter = 100 * 1/100 meter = 1 meter

as you can see 1 meter = 100 cm.
