Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

strange conversion

Postby jeffvino » Fri Aug 12, 2005 1:50 am

I am in the wine business and am searching for a conversion formula for converting tons/acre to hectoliters/hectare

The acre to hectare is easy enough. (1 acre = 0.404 686 ha)

I assume that is tons of grapes to hectoliters of wine. That's dependent on your crop and your process, ie, it is a yield. No general conversion is possible. Even if it were tons of wine, you'd have to tell us the density.

grapes

The US measurement of crop size is tons per acre, the european measurement is hectoliters per hectare. I realize a hectare is roughly 2.5 acres, I just do not know how to convert a weight measurement of tonnage to a volume measurement of hectoliters. It may not be able to be formulated. Thanks for the help.
