There are 7.33 barrels per tonne (tonne x 7.33 = bbl)

Crude Oil Volume Conversionat 7.33 Bbl per Ton.

Hello Knight,

Thank you for your reply.
I presumed the rate of conversion is based on Crude Oil specific gravity at .858.
Does the specific gravity varies very much on different type of Crude Oil current found in the market?

Best regards!

A Barrel (bbl) is a volumetric unit of measure for crude oil and petroleum products. 1 barrel is 42 US gallons, 35 imperial gallons or 159 liters.

Indeed, while there are roughly 7.33 bbl of crude oil to a tonne, the precise conversion obviously depends on the specific gravity of the oil.

A quick look in the engineering Handbook lists some specific gravities for three different types of crude oil, which have a range of 0.42 g/cm³

Crude oil, California @ 60°F = 0.918 g/cm³
Crude oil, Mexican @ 60°F = 0.976 g/cm³
Crude oil, Texas @ 60°F = 0.876 g/cm³
