Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

The answer is in the prefixes.

m or milli is 1x10^-3
ì or micro is 1x10^-6
p or pico is 1x10^-9
n or nano is 1x10^12

Now, the mole is a value relating to 6.022x10^23 units of anything. one mole of flowers is 6.022x1023 flowers. One mole of Oxygen is 6.022x10^23 molecules of oxygen.

So....

One mM or millimole is 1x10^-3 x 6.022e^23 = 6.022x10^20 items.

likewise, one ìM is 6.022x10^17 items, one pM is 6.022x10^14 items, and one nM is 6.022x10^11 items. In each case, multiply the value of the prefix times the unit to get the final numerical result.

By the same token, if I have one mole, and want to know how may millimoles or micro moles that is, then:

1 mole x 1,000 mM/M = 1,000 mM
1 mole x 1,000,000 ìM/M = 1,000,000 ìM
1 mole x 1,000,000,000 pM/M = 1,000,000,000 pM
and so forth.

Finally, if I want to move from one mM to on pM, then:

1 mM x 1,000 pM/mM = 1,000 pM
