To obtain a solid % you must compare the same kind of unit. If you have mass (mg) and volume (liters) you must convert the volume in mass.
1 Liters of water = 1 kg
1 ml of water = 1 g
so if you put 5 mg of potassium in 1 ml of water, the solid % would be 5mg / 1 g = 0.5%
so divide number of gram of solid by the number of gram of liquid and you obtain the solid %. For example wastewater 5% solid generaly have 50 g of biosolid for 1000 g (1 liter) of water.
