Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

convert sq meters to cubic meters or cubic yards

Postby Calgary » Mon Apr 05, 2004 10:55 pm

We are trying to do a price comparison between two different companies, on mulch, 3 inches thick.

On 145 sq m, how many cubic yards or cubic meters would this be?

If I understand your question correctly...
First of all, we want our units to be in the same format (I'm choosing metric/SI). 3 inches is equal to 0.0762 m. Now, since you have a 2-D measurement (145 m²), we simply multiply it by the thickness to get a 3-D measurement (11.049 m³). "m²" means "square metres" and "m³" means "cubic metres". 11.049 m³ (cubic metres) is equal to 14.45155 yd³ (cubic yards).
