That should be a multiply.
1 therm = 100,000 BTU
1 MMBTU = 10^6 BTU, 10X larger.
There are 10 therm/MMBTU

Yes, a multiply. Stupid me, I just cut and pasted off a website without using common sense.

Page 23 of this:

(their hand written page 8 )
showed this:

From their info, how are they using it? Multiplying it by 10 would make their revenue 10x more, are their numbers correct the way they are using them?

I looked all through the document and couldn't figure it out.

And yes, 10x therms = 1 MMBtu

Anyone figure out how they are doing it with dividing? I for one would like to know what/how they are doing it.

I don't know what they are doing either

Of course, they are justifying a rate increase. It is more important to make it look complex and intimidating than to be clear.

However, a price per MMBTU would have to be divided by 10 to give a price per therm. Maybe that is what they are doing.

I think you probably hit the answer exactly... make it so no one can figure it out and hand it out at the meeting. :(

They're converting a cost per unit energy, not a quantity of energy.

1MMBTU = 10 therms
So, if the rate is $1/MMBTU, you get 10 therms for your $1, so the cost per therm is 1/10 of a dollar, which is why they're dividing by 10.

Don't worry, they're not overcharging.
