The easiest way to do this is to use a tool called unit analysis. Here we go...
You have your initial units of kg/mm. What you are going to need to do is convert each segment to the unit you want in the end. So, you'll need to know how to convert kg to lbs. (There are 2.205 lbs per kg) and mm to inches (there are 2.54 mm per inch.) So, lay out your problem like this:

5.1 -- x 2.205 -- x 2.54 --
mm kg in
Now, simplify the statement. Notice that Kg will cancel, and mm will cancel, leaving you with lbs over inches. Multiply the units out, 5.1 x 2.205 x 2.54 = 28.56357
